Local producer wins prestigious medal
Local producer Linga Longa Farm Wingham is celebrating after winning a Bronze medal at the 2016 Australian Food Awards (AFA) for their Certified Grass Fed beef.
Farmers Lauren and Greg Newell started selling their beef online and through farmers markets 5 years ago and were the first farmers in NSW to become Pasture certified through the Cattle Council of Australia.
“This is the first time we have entered out beef in an award and are thrilled to be a bronze medallist, as it really confirms that all the hard work is paying off and our products really are of a high standard,” said Lauren, business owner and producer
The AFA, conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) builds on the success of RASV’s Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards (RMFFA) and is Australia’s leading national premium food awards program.
The awards offer entrants the opportunity to benchmark against set criteria; receive invaluable independent feedback from industry experts; and be rewarded for excellence.

Watch Now – Calf born in Creek
Sept 2015
With welcome rain comes new life but not how you’d expect. Thunderstorms and a rising creek caused this cow to calf suddenly with her calf being caught in the rising water…….. another rescue in a matter of weeks for Farmer Greg just as we were to head of to Sydney. Due to the crazy weather we have decided it best to stay with the farm and will not be attending The Beaches Market tomorrow. I’ts a boy what should we call him?
